And now for some recent news that excites both gaming and figure fans. Mythra and Pyra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are getting a limited reproduction of their 1/7th scale figures!

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a JRPG that originally came out on the Nintendo Switch in 2017. The release of Pyra’s figure soon followed in 2018. Then the complementing Mythra figure came in 2019.

On their own, each Blade looks gorgeous, but displayed together they’re a thrilling sight. The game’s character designer Saitou Masatsugu lended his artwork to create the figures. Each character is making a leaping pose towards the direction that opposes the other, like a mirrored stance. They’re connected to their bases by only one diagonal leg, proving just how much work the piece’s sculptor, Akimofu, put into balance design! We’re guessing an important part of that balance is the size and weight of their enormous swords, which have been replicated to perfection. And did you notice the awesome “X” shape that Pyra and Mythra each make with their bodies and swords? We sure did!  Then there’s the paintwork. The colors of these gaming heroines really pop off.

It’s no small coincidence that Good Smile Company, the figures’ manufacturer opened pre-orders for these beauties now. The two Xenoblade characters are trending once more thanks to their inclusion as playable characters in super popular Switch game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The girls appear in the game as a 2-in-1 character, in the same way that Sheik could originally become Princess Zelda.

The characters’ addition to the Smash roster was originally announced in a Nintendo Direct presentation back on February 17. Later on March 4, the launch date of these Smash fighters, Smash Bros. game creator Masahiro Sakurai himself rolled out the red carpet for the new characters in a video. The figures made an appearance next to him, and he praised their quality!

Say no more, Sakurai-san. The figures are back to the delight of many. Or maybe we should say “the few.” As the only downside of this awesome news is that Pyra and Mythra are both being re-released in limited quantities. Most figure retailers have already sold out of these hot items! If you were lucky enough to pre-order them, hats off to you! The figures are planned to be shipped out in Fall 2022.
