Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Announced During PlayStation State of Play
Move over, last week’s Nintendo Direct. This week it’s all about Sony PlayStation and their half-hour long State of Play digital livestream. Many game announcements were made during the February 25 event, but the biggest news by far was the announcement trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on the PS5, an “enhanced and expanded” version of the highly successful 2020 title.
According to Square Enix’s official North America press release, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade “takes advantage of the latest generation hardware and includes a wealth of graphical, gameplay and system enhancements for the PS5.”
Some new features were revealed during the trailer, including a fully customizable photo mode that was not present in the original release. With the FF7 Remake being such a visually beautiful game, this was definitely one of the most requested features by players last year. At least, it was by me.
But the centerpiece for the Intergrade reveal and its main selling point is the inclusion of brand new episodic content featuring fan-favorite character, Yuffie! In this episode, the player gets to control lovable Yuffie as she sneaks her way through Shinra Corporation in a heist for, you guessed it, materia! Alongside Yuffie in her adventure is a new handsome character named Sonon Kusakabe (sorry, that wasn’t Zack with a new haircut). And for a brief second at the end of the trailer, we see the appearance of Weiss, who originally appeared in the FF7 spin-off title, Dirge of Cerberus. Could that mean a surprise appearance by FF7 hero Vincent Valentine in the content? We can only hope!

People who purchased the original digital version of the game on PS4 will get the upgraded PS5 version free! But the episode with Yuffie will be DLC at an additional cost, with the amount not yet specified.
