Speaking about fall, reading is always been special for that time of year. It's been said that long autumn's nights are perfectly fit to it.

Many reader-characters have appeared in anime. They've been showed in various ways, such as reading books while talking with others, rooms full of books or always carrying books.

Here, at Anime! Anime!, we conducted a reader survey "Fall is a Reading Season! Who is your favorite reader-character?" We received responses from 131 people during the survey period from October 14 to October 21.

The male-female ratio is about 20% for men and about 80% for women. About 40% of the age group were minors, and about 30% were in their 20s.

■Topping the list is Makishima Shougo from "Psycho-Pass" with his famous lines about books...

1st place

1st place goes to Makishima Shougo from "Psycho-Pass" with an approval rating is about 20%.

Makishima Shougo is a character who always appears in the scenes holding a book. Readers commented, "The scene of quoting books or philosophers, him always sticking to reading a paper book, and the scene of him talking what reading is means to him, are all very memorable", and "I like his line, 'Buy paper books. E-books are dull.'"

The main character of this work, KogamiShinya, also got into ranking but in 8th place. It is a result of anime where books appear in important scenes.

2nd place

2nd place goes to Kunikida Hanamaru from "Love Live! Sunshine!!" with an approval rating is about 9%.

Kunikida Hanamaru is a freshman at Uranohoshi Girls' Academy. Since she is a library committee member, many fans commented, "Girls who are wearing glasses while reading are cute", and "She spends a lot of time in the library."

Some received comment pointed out other media, "In the PV of Hanamaru-chan's character's song "Mitaiken HORIZON", the song starts to play from the scene where she opens the book", and "I think, she is also featured to carry a lot of guidances on card illustrations of games."

3rd place

3rd place goes to Nagato Yuuki from "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" with an approval rating is about 8%.

Nagato Yuuki is a member of the SOS Brigade launched by Suzumiya Haruhi, but in the club room, she is always quietly reading a book. Magazine "The Sneaker" held a project "100 books by Nagato Yuuki" to introduce her favorite books, and some readers commented, "It is fun because there are many real books." Because of her reticent personality, she is also a comedy character to what is the inside the book she is reading.

■Let's introduce other commets!

About Kudo Shinichi from "Detective Conan", "It's cute how he reads detective novels all night along and forget about his promise with Ran."

About Readman Yomilo "R.O.D: Read or Die", "Because she lives in a house filled with books."

About Sagisawa Fumiko from "The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls", "She always reads books. Even her songs are about reading."

Some readers thanked Shizuki Tsukishima from "Whisper of the Heart" for opening their passion for books, "She is the character that made me love books. I thank Shizuku-chan for starting using the library and setting a goal to read 100 books a year."

In this survey, characters from anime and PV, whose appearance of reading a book in a video work becomes memorable, are ranked high.
