The novel depicts the new battle being fought by the anti-Earth Federation government movement "Mufti", and the intersecting destinies of its leader Hathaway Noa, the mysterious beautiful girl Gigi Andalucia, and Federation Colonel Kenneth Sleg.
"“Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash" was released on June 11, and as of Sunday, June 20, the second week since its release, it has attracted 500,000 viewers and surpassed a cumulative box office revenue of 1 billion yen.
This is the first time in 33 years that a Gundam series film has earned more than 1 billion yen at the box office, since "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack" that was released in 1988 and earned 1.13 billion yen at the box office.
