"Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash," which was scheduled to be released on May 7, 2021, has announced that the release date will be changed to May 21 due to the effects of the spread of the coronavirus infection.

The original story of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash" is a novel of the same title written by Tomino Yoshiyuki, which inherits the world view of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," which depicts the final battle between Amuro and Char.

The novel depicts the new battle of the anti-Earth Federation government movement "Mafty" on the vertical axis, and the intersecting destinies of its leader Hathaway Noa, the mysterious beautiful girl Gigi Andalucia, and Federation Colonel Kenneth Sleg on the horizontal axis.

The release date of the film has been postponed due to the impact of the spread of the coronavirus infection. The film was originally scheduled to be released on July 23, 2020, but due to the effects of the new coronavirus infection, it was decided to postpone its release.

In regard to the second change of the release date, Ogata Naohiro, the producer of Sunrise Inc. who is in charge of the planning and production of the film, has commented to the fans who are waiting for the release of the film.

Due to the change in the release date, the limited edition Blu-ray and the regular edition Blu-ray, the event limited Gunpla "HG 1/144 Penelope [Clear Color] First Production Limited Package" and the pamphlets of the luxury edition and the regular edition will be released on May 21.

Advance tickets with special offers that are currently on sale will be available at screening theaters until May 20, the day before the film's release. Advance tickets (Moviechike cards) that have already been purchased can be used for screenings after the change in release date.

"Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash" will open in theaters nationwide on May 21.

■Executive Producer Ogata Naohiro, comments in full

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to all those who have been affected by the coronavirus infection and to their families and concerned people.

I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to the medical staff and all those who are working daily to prevent the spread of the infection.

In light of the situation of the coronavirus infection in Japan, we have decided to postpone the release of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash," which was scheduled to be released on May 7, 2021 (Friday), to May 21, 2021 (Friday).

Many people involved in the film are filled with regret, as are all of you who have had to wait so long since the postponement last summer. However, in consideration of the safety of the people who will be coming to see the show, we have decided to give it another two weeks.

Please take care of yourself until May 21, and I will see you at the theater this time, this time for sure.
