Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc - Episode 8 Review - It's Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu and Uzui vs. Gyutaro and Daki!

Following Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc - Episode 7, Ep 8 is again brimming with top-notch action animation!

It begins with Tanjiro getting sleepy, tiny Nezuko back to her box. Even though he’s badly injured and exhausted, he grits his teeth and says to himself he still can fight! So he goes back to the battle.

Gyutaro, Daki and Uzui pause from fighting for a moment to take jabs at each-other verbally. We get some backstory on Uzui. He was one of 15 brothers and sisters, all shinobi. All died except him and his younger brother. His brother was like his father, thinking of subordinates only as pawns. Uzui vowed never to be that kind of guy. That’s why Uzui wanted to be flashy, because other ninjas weren’t. Maybe. 

Master Ubayashiki actually recognized Uzui’s worth. In turn, Uzui would gladly give his life for his master and the Demon Slayer Corps.

Gyutaro notices his poison slowly taking an effect on Uzui, but Uzui says he’s fine. They start fighting again, and Uzui is able to behead Daki again. But he can’t quite do the same to Gyutaro, even with some excellent strategy. Daki reattaches her head.

Then Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Tanjiro make their flashy entrances! Back-up has arrived!

Inosuke and Zenitsu try to split off Daki and leave Gyutaro to Uzui and Tanjiro. 

Even though Zenitsu is sleeping, he still admonishes Daki for harming the little servant girl. Daki says ugly people like him don’t get a say in the matter. And we learn that Daki and her brother were mistreated in the past (obviously) so they’re getting revenge, or compensation, by killing the blessed. 

Daki opens a third eye, so that Gyutaro can see from her perspective as well. And Daki’s obi belts rain down through the roof, attacking Uzui and Tanjiro. So it’s still very hard to keep up with these demons, even though it’s 4 against 2.

And at first, Tanjiro is not in sync with Uzui. He worries about getting in Uzui’s way. But he adapts quickly to the fight, using Water Breathing as a defensive style.

It’s looking bad for Tanjiro and Uzui, but then Hinatsuru arrives with a surprise kunai bombardment attack. The Uzui/Hintasuru combo attack is enough to break through Gyutaro’s defenses. Uzui slices off Gyutaro’s feet. And the kunai that hit Gyutaro was laced with wisteria, stopping him from regenerating! He’s numb and can’t move!

Now’s the chance! It seems Tanjiro is just millimeters away from slicing off Gyutaro’s neck. Gyutaro just smiles. What trick does he have up his sleeve? I doubt that this is the killing blow, but we’ll have to wait until next ep to find out!
