Delicious looking food in anime tends to do well. We can all relate - we all get hungry. So why not pair that with the isekai genre? And I guess it helps that this isekai boasts some pretty awesome endearing and cute characters.

#4) Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy
Score: 7.74
Start date: Jul 7, 2021
A score of 7.74 might not sound too high, but you should consider the fact that unlike the other series on this list, Tsukimichi was a brand new anime IP. It didn’t have that brand recognition the others could benefit from. On top of that, its score beat out a number of other isekai in that season, such as The Dungeon of Black Company, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, Spirit Chronicles and I’m Standing on a Million Lives Season 2. Pretty amazing that it was able to defeat all of these series.

#3) That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2
Score: 8.41
Start date: Jan 12, 2021
No surprise here. Many anime fans were happy to see the return of this OP slime character for a second season! TenSura boasts a huge cast of lovable characters and an amazingly deep world and story. The second cour of the series was also released in 2021 later in the summer. It dipped a bit with a score of 8.31, but that’s still a very high score on MAL.

#2) Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World 2 Part 2

Back in January 2021, the second cour of Re:Zero Season 2 aired. The story was just as engaging as the first season, with so many good cliffhangers. You could argue Re:Zero has the best voice acting and best emotional performances of all isekai anime. And some of the best in all anime, period. That damn Subaru and his crying monologues. Gets you every time.
#1) Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2
Score: 8.80

And the king of last year’s isekai anime is…. Mushoku Tensei! Congratulations to this amazing show. Incredible animation (especially the fights), phenomenal storytelling, unique plot. The list goes on. Both cours came out this year, with the second cour actually being higher than the score of the first - 8.36. Although it’s a new contender to the isekai anime category, Mushoku Tensei will definitely go down in history as one of the best isekai anime of all time!
