Best-selling PS4 title Ghost of Tsushima will release a brand new multiplayer expansion on October 16th, just days away. The samurai stealth game developed by Sucker Punch originally made its worldwide debut earlier this year on July 17, 2020, and wowed critics with its powerful single player story, addictive combat, and gorgeous openworld aesthetics. The game was so successful that it broke sales records for Sony’s PS4 in its first month of release. Now Version 1.1 of the game is poised to ride a second wave of success with new content and modes sure to excite its already sizable fanbase.
According to
Sony’s official blog, the game’s new expansion is titled
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends and features two player story missions and four player co-op Survival modes. Players will get to wear new cosmetics and try out classes that were not available in the base game. The expansion will also boast a “puzzle-filled” dungeon raid, similar to quests found in games like
Destiny and
World of Warcraft. The raid is scheduled to release “in the weeks following the launch of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.”
As soon as you get started in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, you will choose from one of four classes, each with its own strengths and abilities. The four classes are Assassin, Ronin, Hunter, and Samurai. Although you begin with one class, the other three can be unlocked as your rank increases. And each class has unique alternate abilities that you can further unlock as you progress, along with more powerful gear.
In addition to the multiplayer modes, Sucker Punch is releasing a New Game+ mode for the single player campaign. In this mode, players will start near the very beginning of the game but with “all of the Techniques, Gear, and Vanity items obtained in a previous playthrough.” New Game+ is set at a higher difficulty level, but this can be adjusted in the game’s settings. It’s also worth mentioning that players will have a chance to fight Mongolian forces with some impressive new upgrades for Jin Sakai’s sword, armor, bow, and Charms.
Ghost of Tsushima’s New Game+ mode, two player story, and co-op Survival mode are all free DLC’s for owners of the game. Sony has clearly stated that there are no microtransactions included for the expansion and will only require a PlayStation Plus membership in order to take advantage of its online multiplayer features. Will you be jumping back into Ghost of Tsushima?
